Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens

 
This course covers:
  • What bloodborne pathogens are and how they spread
  • How to protect oneself from exposure
  • How to clean oneself and the area of exposure
  • How to report any exposures to blood or blood-containing materials in the workplace

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED

 

This course covers:

  • Individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements

  • Lay rescuers who may need to respond to an emergency in the workplace

  • Family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac arrest

 
 
Course length: approximately 5 - 7 hours

  • Adult CPR AED with and without a mask

This course covers:

  • Pediatric first aid

  • Asthma care training for childcare providers

  • Pediatric first aid topics, including eye injuries; fever; suspected abuse; and snake, spider, scorpion , tick, and marine animal bites and stings (optional module)

  • Infant CPR with mask (optional module)

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers

 

This course covers:

  • Adult and pediatric CPR

  • Two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve mask

  • Foreign-body airway obstruction (conscious and unconscious)

  • Automated external defibrillation (includes child AED updates)

  • Special resuscitation situations

  • Other cardiopulmonary emergencies

  • Stroke and cardiac arrest

 
 Course length: approximately 4.5 hours

Portable Fire Extinguishers
 

Extinguisher basics and use; P.A.S.S.; maintenance & testing

This course is designed to train individuals in the use of portable fire extinguishers in the workplace. These easy-to-use devices could make the difference between a small emergency and a major catastrophe. The course reviews how to determine when or if an extinguisher is appropriate and explains the Fire Triangle, P.A.S.S. Technique, fire classifications and types of extinguishers.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

The course reviews the American Heart Association current guidelines

for Adult Cardiac Arrest, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Acute Ischemic Stroke and Cardiac Dysrhythmia Treatment

 

During the course we will cover identification and treatment of patients with medical conditions who are at risk for cardiac arrest.  Performing a primary and secondary assessment survey along with immediate emergency actions required for successful treatment.  Algorithms for treatment of emergency situations and effective team based resuscitation dynamics.

Arrhythmia recognition we will be explained however it is expected that the student will have a working knowledge of EKG rhythms. Simulation with a defibrillator and the external pacemaker is included during the training session. The assessment and care of a patient experiencing an acute coronary syndrome or stroke is also included.

Course Information:

 

  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED

  • Recognition and early management of respiratory arrest and       

      cardiac arrest

  • Recognition and early management of dysrhythmias

  • Airway management

  • ACLS pharmacology

  • Management of Acute Coronary Syndrome and Stroke

  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

​

Training consists of completing an online course with modules and then following up to perform a skills check with a certified Instructor.
